Sitar Niketan, established in 2015 by internationally renowned sitarist Alif Laila, is a music school dedicated to preserving and propagating the rich traditions of Indian classical music. Under Laila's guidance, students receive individual and group training to develop proper sitar playing skills and connect with the Indian classical raags and taals. Sitar Niketan follows the footsteps of the Senia Maihar Gharana school of music, founded by legendary musicians Ustad Alauddin Khan, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and Annapurna Devi.
With a vision to resonate and continue the musical heritage of South Asia, Sitar Niketan serves as an oasis of culture where the universal language of music is taught. The school aims to broaden students' musical horizons through collaborations with other musical disciplines in performances. Laila's own life experience has reinforced her belief in the revitalizing and healing power of music, inspiring her to teach and help her students play the sitar to their best ability.
