Ms. Charlotte Shifrin teaches private violin lessons to students of all ages. In the fall, she will be resuming her music appreciation class on Saturdays. The class is a chronological exploration of the composers' accomplishments in the history of music. Ms. Shifrin will play a a portion of the composer's work that she has covered for discussion. She will teach the Russian composers, including Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Bartok, and 20th century composers. The music appreciation class will run for six to eight weeks. Afterwards, Ms. Shifrin will teach an opera appreciation class. She has a bachelor's degree in music from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and a master's degree from American University. She has performed with regional chamber orchestras and opera companies, and some of her students have become professional violinists.
