Poplar Grove Baptist Church, 14625 Jones Ln, Gaithersburg, MD 20878, US

After 10 years of construction, this Catholic church opened its doors May 31, 2001. Ten years later, its parish of 900 continues to celebrate May 31 with a special Mass to recognize the church's annointment. Prior to having its own building, the Rev. Raymond Fecteau led the parish for more than 20 years with services in borrowed spaces around town. Today, the new building is set in the center of nearly 10 acres of land dotted with trees and corn fields. Stained glass windows were specially made for the church and honor the church's namesake, Mary, saints from the "Millenium Booklet," as the church was built in the year 2000, and other uniquely American liturgical calendar representations. Mass is offered Saturday and Sunday and during the week at the Thomas More Chapel located in the Parish Barn. Liturgy of the Hours is offered prior to the daily mass each weekday. Men's and women's Bible studies are offered each week, as well as faith programs for different age groups. The parish supports local charities through food drives and family collections, and supports a sister parish in Haiti. An annual Christmas Tree sale is held each winter along with a Christmas pageant.
