Odenton Baptist Church was founded in 1967 and has many programs for congregation members, particularly youth. It is an Evangelical church following traditional teachings from the King James Bible.
The church recently expanded to include a new auditorium, education building, bookstore, multipurpose rooms and a larger foyer.
Pastor George Shafer performs most services and is the head of ministry. Odenton Baptist supports more than 30 missionaries around the world.
Odenton Baptist's ministries include the Lighthouse Club for children aged 4-14, that features songs, games and a Bible lesson. The church has an active youth group for teenagers that includes a special service, monthly activities, camps and retreats.
Other programs include a nursing home ministry, summer camp, vacation bible school and a Bible Institute that meets weekly.
The church also offers a bus ministry, which picks up and drops off worshipers in the Odenton and Severn area.
Odenton Baptist Church is also home to the Odenton Christian School, which serves serves children from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
