Founded in 1981, Monocacy Middle School enrolls more than 700 students in grades six through eight. It offers a variety of academic courses, such as art, science, math, physical education, language arts, foreign languages and social studies. The school organizes several special programs, including enrichment, annual reading rally, show choir and annual talent shows. It also offers the MATHCOUNTS program, special education, English as a Second Language, and gifted and talented education programs. Monocacy Middle School has a media center that has a collection of various reading and reference materials. It additionally offers academic, career, personal and social guidance counseling to students. It is a part of Frederick County Public Schools, which serves more than 40,000 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. Monocacy Middle School is located in Frederick, Md.
