The Mid-Shore Board of REALTORS is a trade association for real estate professionals in Caroline, Dorchester and Talbot Counties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The association provides a variety of services and benefits that advance the professional growth and success of its REALTOR members while maintaining the highest level of ethics. Participating REALTORS are in tune with the needs of the communities they serve. The purpose of the Mid-Shore Board of REALTORS , Inc in concert with the Maryland and National Association of REALTORS is to serve its membership and community by developing and delivering programs, products and services that elevate the standards of the real estate profession and through collective efforts, promote the preservation of the right to own, transfer and use real property. In 1953, nine local real estate firms formed the Talbot County Real Estate Board. The stated purpose was to get the real estate business in Talbot on a firm basis, to standardize practices, and thus better serve the public as well as to subscribe to the CODE OF ETHICS of the National Association of REALTORS (then known as the National Association of Real Estate Boards). The efforts of these organizers started the process of building an occupation into a profession. The Talbot County Real Estate Board became the Talbot County Board of REALTORS in 1968, and over the years the organization has shown a commitment to fair and honest dealings between REALTORS and between its members and the public. In 1985 the Board hired its first executive officer and in 1986 started a computerized multiple listing service. The multiple listing service eventually evolved into a separate entity, which served Maryland's mid shore counties for several years. In 1998 the Board agreed to subscribe to the multiple listing service of the Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS), which serves the District of Columbia, most of Maryland, and portions of several other states. Also in 1998, the Talbot County Board of REALTORS , Inc officially merged with the Dorchester County Board of REALTORS to form the Mid-Shore Board of REALTORS , Inc, an organization that now serves Caroline, Dorchester and Talbot Counties. Over the years the current Board and its predecessors have come a long way to elevate the standards of the real estate business and the professional conduct of its members. By developing and delivering programs, services and related products, the organization continues to serve its members and the public.
