The Maryland Commission for Women was established in 1971 by the Maryland Legislature with the goal of promoting social, political and economic equality for all Maryland women. One particular goal of the Commission is to offer information to Maryland women and girls with publications about issues, including rights, events, organizations, legislation and a resource directory of the community.
The Commission's programs include the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame, Women of Tomorrow Awards, Maryland Women's History Month, and Maryland Women's Heritage Center, as well as the Maryland Commission for Women Committees. Local commissions hold monthly meetings and host workshops.
