Maryland Presbyterian Church is serious about its mission: "To be a progressive, inclusive faith community nurturing inquisitive Christians for life and service in the 21st century. In addition to a serious commitment to spirituality they have focused ministries in environmental stewardship, peacemaking and outreach to the poor. They have won numerous awards for environmental work. Delegations regularly travel to El Salvador to work with their sister parish there. The church is welcoming of the LGBT community and seeks to be inclusive in all areas of its life together. A progressive theological perspective informs all worship and study.
A naturalized (grass) labyrinth on the northwest side of the church is available to the community at all times. A candlelit vespers and communion service is held each Tuesday from 5:30 – 6:15 PM(September through May). Participants arrive anytime before 6 PM for silent meditation accompanied by quiet music. The vespers liturgy begins at 6 PM and lasts for 15 minutes. Likewise a 15 minute prayer and communion service (with coffee to go) is offered each Thursday morning at 8. These and all activities at the church are open to everyone.
