It supports a variety of health insurance assistance programs, offers legal assistance and provides guidance related to employment. The Maryland Department of Aging also operates several senior centers that provide help to older individuals, encouraging them to take charge of their health and stay involved in their community. The department also supports the senior care system that provides case management and funds for services for people 65 or older who may be at risk of nursing home placement.
