Farmland Elementary School is part of the Kids After Hours program that offers before and after care for elementary children at 15 Montgomery County elementary schools. Activities focus on board and group games, computer time, homework and cleanup time.
The pre-school program starts at 7am with planned activities. At 8am, a hot breakfast is served, which includes pancakes, bacon and eggs. This is followed with a clean-up period before classes start for the day.
After-school activities start with a snack before an hour of homework time. The remaining two hours are for clubs, sports, arts and crafts and fun contests. There is a rolling dismissal that ends at 6:30pm.
KAH offers summer and day camps during summer vacations. A variety of activities offered includes arts and crafts, sports, field trips, swimming, weekly trips to Highpoint farm, Camp Olympics, shaving cream and jello wars, water slides and much more.
The Old Gate Child Care Center is located in the Farmland Elementary School, which is currently going though a complete rebuilding project. The school is currently housed at the North Lake Center Elementary School while during construction.
It is among the few public elementary schools in Maryland to receive a distinguished GreatSchools Rating of 8 out of 10.
KAH main office is in Silver Spring, MD. This office handles all billing, enrollment, advertising, administrative duties related to staff and licensing, scheduling of maintenance and use of KAH vehicles and special equipment.
