The Howard County Conservancy operates Mt. Pleasant, a 325-year-old farm that now serves as a nature preserve and educational facility. With a nature center, 232 acres of meadows and forests lush with biodiversity, native plant gardens, a historic farmhouse and outbuildings, streams, the Conservancy is open every day of the year, dawn to dusk. Our 5 miles of trails are well-marked, lead back to our parking lot, and open to all for free. We host public programs every month of the year, from birding, hikes and outdoor yoga classes to preschool playdates and holiday gift markets. Our nature center, with rescue animals and educational exhibits, is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, late March through December; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, January to late March.
