Hagerstown Housing Authority, in partnership with community organizations, agencies and local governments, provides housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income people. The authority provides a variety of programs and services for residents that promote self-sufficiency. Established in 1949, the authority is a nonprofit organization operating under the laws of the state of Maryland. It consists of three senior communities and seven family communities, serving more than 1,000 families. Hagerstown Housing Authority also offers various programs, such as housing choice voucher and housing assistance payments program, which serves more than 700 families. It also provides various support programs to its employees.
