Bethesda Cares is a group which conducts homeless outreach and homelessness prevention work. They operate lunch programs out of several churches and a clothing closet in downtown Bethesda. The group's Woodmont Avenue space is available for the homeless to access counseling, search for a job or place to live, use the computer or retrieve mail. The small paid staff coordinates a group of nearly 450 who volunteer for the organization, which was founded in 1979.
