History
This Idea was conceived during a simple walk on the beach. John found three items, first the remnants of both an old wooden lobster trap and an old metal lobster trap. Second the observation and realization that there is a substantial amount of trash, specifically plastics, in our oceans and on our shores. Over the last two months John has worked with these coastal materials to fabricate a pair of sunglasses. These sunglasses utilize repurposed lobster traps for the temples (arms of the sunglasses) and aim to successfully repurpose sea plastics to make the frames. Traps Sunglasses is fully committed to bringing this idea to reality. Using rapid prototyping and a professional sunglasses designer to help with the modeling process we have developed a bold pair of unisex sunglasses that utilize the Maine lobster traps. Sea plastic is not yet commercially available

Traps Sunglasses utilize lightweight, durable, plastic frames paired with recycled wooden lobster traps. Submerged in the Atlantic Ocean, these traps are now being transformed into the backbone of our product. Our mission is to create fashionable iconic eyewear from repurposed materials at an affordable price. Each pair of Traps Sunglasses is a one of kind, handcrafted accessory naturally enhanced by the Atlantic Ocean. This product has been designed with the idea that all materials have a hidden, second purpose. Our sunglasses are made from both oak and cider lobster traps.
