The house which became the Inn was first built by local farmer Asa English in about 1860. A long time Kennebunkport family, the English's began a dairy business after the Civil War and kept cattle in the attached barn and rented rooms in the main house. Since then it has known seven owners, including the Jacksons. The barn became a carriage house and was then converted into seven rooms and the hayloft into a large suite. A small private cottage was also added in the rear meadow. Each owner has left a special mark on the place and has worked tirelessly to keep it looking pristine through the many rugged Maine winters and salty mists of summer. English Meadows Inn is our own take on the classic English country house. The Inn is graciously maintained with beautiful English gardens in and around the nearly two acres of land. Relax and enjoy the ambiance and fragrance of multiple flowers, shrubs and trees. A perfect place for a lazy afternoon nap or a moment catch up on reading. Many of the guestrooms have spectacular views of our gardens. Each guestroom is finely appointed with ultimate care. We strive for complete comfort for our guests, thus we offer a wide variety of amenities and "special touches". You can expect amenities such as complimentary wireless internet and coffee/tea. Enjoy special touches of nightly chocolates and a decanter of sherry.
