Founded in 1997, Sustainable Harvest International, also known as SHI, addresses the tropical deforestation crisis in Central America by providing farmers with agricultural training and tools. It serves more than 1,300 families and over 100 rural farming communities, as well as employs a staff of a regional coordinator and program director. The organization works to increase cultural understanding and encourages individuals to participate in community-based events. Sustainable Harvest International maintains an online store that raises funds to support agriculture by selling a variety of T-shirts for men and women. In addition, it conducts a pilot program, as well as to support farmers. Sustainable Harvest International maintains a location in Surry, Maine.
