The South Portland Public Works department is operated by the government of South Portland in Maine. The city department performs daily operations, including street/sidewalk maintenance, street sweeping, snow plowing, debris removal from storm basins and recycling collections. Additionally, the department operates the city's transfer facility, such as overflow household rubbish, tires, waste oil and more. It is also responsible for hazardous waste collection and leaf/Christmas tree pickup. Its garage division repairs and maintains its fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment while its sign shop is responsible for installation and maintenance of street signs, traffic signs and crosswalks. The City of South Portland is divided into a number of departments, including public works, fire and police.
