We had an idea: to live off the land, grow our food, build our buildings and make things pretty. Because we had traveled, stayed in hostels and had excellent experiences, we would invite travelers to enjoy the place with us. It took almost a decade, but the idea worked out. Open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Rustic lodging in a peaceful, relaxing setting. Communal and private rooms, private huts, seaside hiking trails, large gardens, nightly campfire. The ocean kayaking in the area is some of the best in the world with over 100 islands locally. Two hours from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and 20 minutes from the ferry to Isle Au Haut (also part of Acadia). Deer Isle is the largest lobster port in Maine, if you eat bugs.
