The Biddeford Public Works Department operates a recycling center, transfer station and wastewater division. The department s recycling center is responsible for the recycling of newspapers, cardboards, plastics, tin cans, glass jars, bottles, automotive batteries, leaves, grass clippings, tires and junk steel. It also offers solid waste management services. In addition, it provides repair and maintenance services for sanitary sewers, storm water lines, catch basins, manholes and road culverts through its wastewater division. The Biddeford Public Works Department also plans and designs wastewater infrastructure systems. Additionally, the department is responsible for the collection of household hazardous wastes, such as fluorescent bulbs, moth balls, floor cleaners, wood stains, solvents, herbicides, rodent killers and gasoline.
