The City of West Monroe Fire Department works toward the protection of lives and properties. Established in 1889, it offers building inspection, emergency medical, rescue and fire investigation solutions. The department conducts cardiopulmonary resuscitation training classes for the community. It operates a suppression division that maintains a fleet of pumpers, contenders and aerial ladder trucks. In addition, the department employs more than 35 staff members, including assistant chiefs and firefighters. It offers training sessions that focus on information related to equipment, tactics and technologies for firefighters. The City of West Monroe Fire Department is a part of the City of West Monroe, La., which also governs community development, information technology, police, planning and zoning, water and finance departments.
