The West Carroll Parish Police Jury is one of the member parishes of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana, which was created in 1924 to improve parish government in the state of Louisiana. Its member include 64 parishes organized as a police jury, parish council or parish commission. The association is responsible for keeping state and national public officials informed of the activities and needs of the parish governing authorities. Its staff gathers information to benefit members and disseminates that information through periodic orientation and training seminars and conferences. The association publishes newsletters, technical pamphlets, the directory of parish officials and the Police Jury Manual, as well as a quarterly magazine, Louisiana Parish Government. It also operates the Parish Government Risk Management Agency, which is an interlocal risk management agency that provides workers' compensation and health and hospitalization coverage programs for parish governments and affiliated entities.
