Veras Guest House is located in the historic district of Natchitoches, Louisiana on the bank of Cane River Lake, formerly Red River. The quaint cottage is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is only a short stroll from the shops and restaurants on Front Street. Originally the three-room structure rested on hand-hewn beams, which dates the house prior to 1870. Historical records indicate Veras was built circa 1865. The house most likely served as servants quarters for the more stately home across the street. Additions through the years added 3 rooms resulting in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage. This property has been owned by members of the same family since its purchase in 1891 by Cecelia Bludworth, the great-great grandmother of the current Innkeeper, Lisa Brown Hendricks. Lisa has decorated and designed Veras with modern flair and amenities so that her guests have the perfect blend of past and present all in one spectacular getaway experience! Veras Guesthouse boasts hardwood floors throughout along with central AC and heating and ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms. Each of the two bedrooms has a queen-size bed dressed with luxury linens. The bathroom includes a marble-top vanity and an antique claw foot tub where you can soak or shower after your day of exploring the town or fishing from the private dock on Cane River Lake. You will find a full-size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and coffeemaker in the kitchen. Refreshing coffee, assorted teas, and filtered water are provided. You may enjoy a continental breakfast of juice, breads, and fruit or you may choose to sample the local flavors of the restaurants just down the street.
