History
SisterHearts, Inc. mission is to help integrate individuals back into the community by providing the necessary tools for emotional rehabilitation, support, economic development and resources for their success and to enhance community awareness by bringing together public and private supporters to help persons incarcerated and recently released successfully transition to re-enter our communities as accountable, contributing, self-sufficient and law-abiding citizens.
Specialties
After spending 13 years in prison due to a wrongful conviction and seeing the mistreatment of women behind bars, Maryam Henderson-Uloho bought and sold thrifted merchandise to make a living. Life wasn't easy after her release, but when she got back on her feet, she made it her mission to improve other previously imprisoned individuals' lives. With the help of community donors, Maryam sells quality clothing at great prices and even runs a decarceration program for formerly incarcerated individuals. Inspired by the women who helped Maryam in and out of prison, SisterHearts aims to be a safe haven for everyone. We host special events to support inclusion and diversity every month -- all of which encourage a strong sense of compassion and openness. So whether you're looking to donate, shop, volunteer, or get involved, there's always a warm welcome and opportunity waiting for you here.
