HistoryProfessional Karate Schools of America is part of a national franchise out of Detroit, Michigan. The two locations in Louisiana, Baton Rouge and Prairieville, are owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Michael and Jacky Tullier. They have been operating a martial arts school together since 1994. Michael is a master instructor holding a 5th degree black belt and began training in 1989. He is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University. Jacky is a retired black belt (yes, Tang Soo Do is how they met!) with a degree in Mass Communication from UL-Lafayette. She spent a year teaching English in Japan. Michael is responsible for teaching and overseeing student instruction. Jacky handles the administrative and marketing duties. Their two children are actively training and assist daily in teaching classes and other events.SpecialtiesProfessional Karate Schools of America (PKSA Karate) teaches Tang Soo Do martial arts for ages 3-103. PKSA Karate emphasizes traditional martial arts instruction. This means showing respect to the instructor, learning centuries old forms (hyung) while having fun in a clean, pleasant atmosphere. Our kid's karate classes are aligned with the stages of development. That covers physical, emotional, social and intellectual development for ages 3-14. Adults work on physical fitness in fun and challenging ways, not the same 'ole thing class after class. Martial Arts has also proven to be an effective stress relief. At PKSA Karate parents can train with their children and have a shared FUN activity. We also have adult only classes. Karate classes are 2 days a week and class times vary based on age and rank level. One of the super things at PKSA Karate you can choose which 2 days you attend! We have fun events like Nerf Wars, Water Gun parties, Parent's Night Out, Halloween parties and more! We also hold charity fundraisers and Women's Self Defense classes.
