Ouachita Parish Public Works Department is governed by the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. The department maintains of roads and drainage systems, which includes surface maintenance, drainage, vegetation control, bridges, traffic signs and overseeing subdivision development. It employs more than 75 full-time and temporary workers. The department generates nearly $5 million tax annually for the maintenance of roads and bridges. Its road maintenance unit has patching trucks to handle potholes in an economical manner. Its general maintenance unit is responsible for gravel road maintenance and improvement, asphalt resurfacing and shoulder repair. The department s traffic control is responsible for installation and repairs of signs on roads. Ouachita Parish Public Works Department is located in West Monroe, La.
