History
The Times-Picayune was established as The Times-Democrat in 1837 and merged with The Picayune in 1914. Throughout the paper's 180 year history, The Times-Picayune and its writers have received numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2006 for coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the George Polk award for Metropolitan Reporting. In 2012, operations of The Times-Picayune merged with NOLA.com and united under one name: NOLA Media Group. The former location of newsroom operations on Howard Ave. was not large enough to accommodate the new company, and the newsroom, sales team and executive staff now operate from One Canal Place. We are committed to preserving and furthering our legacy of providing the Greater New Orleans area with quality investigative journalism 24/7, 365 days a year.
