HistoryDr. James (Jimmy) Murphy was born and raised in Shreveport, LA. He attended LSU in Baton Rouge where he received his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences. Dr. Murphy went on to attend Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN and graduated with clinical honors in 2011. After practicing for four years in New Orleans, Dr. Murphy is excited to return to Shreveport and serve his hometown community. Along with prescribing glasses and contact lenses, Dr. Murphy specializes in the diagnosing and treating of eye disease. These include cataracts, glaucoma, and complications related to diabetes. He works closely with several surgeons in the New Orleans area for patients who need more advanced care. In his spare time, Dr. Murphy enjoys running, playing golf, tennis, softball, and the guitar. In the spring, he follows Chicago Cubs baseball, and the fall, LSU football.
