Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is comprised of administration, patrol, investigations, communication and court support divisions. Its administration department works to process grant funds, accounts payable, payroll and assures legal compliance, and computer operations. The office houses the K-9 Unit, which is comprised of Deputies and used for searching narcotics and tracking suspects. Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office administers the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office also offers law enforcement instructional courses that include firearms qualifications, defensive tactics, handcuffing and the use of batons. Its Operations Division deals with inmate records, funds, commissary, work details, purchasing, food service, compound maintenance, farm operations and grounds care.
