A Bible Church Is... A Bible church is a group of believers who hold to the historical faith and believe the Bible teaches certain basic truths such as the virgin birth of Christ, the substitutionary atonement of Christ, the deity of Christ, the bodily resurrection of Christ, and the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture. A Bible church is not affiliated with any denomination and is therefore governed by its own by-laws. The major distinctives of a Bible church are its emphasis on the worship of God, it's practical, in-depth teaching of the Word of God, the equipping of the saints to do the work of God, and outreach into the world with the Gospel of Christ. A Bible church is therefore characterized by expository preaching and teaching with practical application for today's living and having an outreach through evangelism and world missions. Our Organization... Mandeville Bible Church's leadership consists of elders and deacons. The elders maintain spiritual watchcare and have general oversight of the church. The elders assist the pastor in teaching, visiting, and outreach. The deacons are responsible for the physical property, supplies, maintenance, and the distribution of funds. Both the elders and the deacons are approved by the congregation on the basis of Biblical qualifications. In addition to the church leadership, all believers are encouraged to use their spiritual gifts to serve one another in love to maintain a healthy, well balanced church. Church Membership... Though church membership is not directly referred to in Scripture, church membership is a practical necessity today to conduct church administration and business. Any believer may become a member of Mandeville Bible Church by sharing with the elders a testimony of their faith in Christ and indicating a willingness to adhere to the doctrines and by-laws of the church. What We Believe... We believe the Bible to be verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3: 16 ) We believe in the one and only true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is completely God and is completely man.
