The Louisiana Department of Corrections, also known as DOC, is responsible for the custody and care of adult offenders across the state. The department s more than 10 correctional facilities accommodate 38,000 inmates. It also assigns several offenders to parish facilities and work release centers. The Louisiana Department of Corrections assists with the management and operations of adult institutions, and probation and parole district offices. The department, governed by the state of Louisiana, completes crime victim registration and notification procedures. In addition, it manages a crime victims services bureau for mitigating the negative experiences of victimization. The Louisiana Department of Corrections GRACE Camp is a nondenominational program for children who have a parent in prison.
