Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana
Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans is a human services organization. It offers the Louisiana Spirit Crisis Counseling program, which includes counseling and support services for hurricane survivors. The organization operates a family resource center that provides substance abuse counseling, anger management, family preservation and transportation services, as well as various after-school programs, including homework assistance, tutoring sessions and recreational activities. With a location in Metairie, La., Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans is a charter member of Volunteers of America, which is a national, nonprofit, faith-based organization that offers a variety of human service programs, including housing and health care. Founded in 1896, the parent organization serves more than 2 million people in over 400 communities.
