Lafayette High School is a comprehensive high school with a multiethnic populace, including Acadians, Creoles, Hispanics, African-Americans, Asians and Semites. The school is located in Lafayette, La., and offers an extensive curriculum for students in grades seven through 12. The curriculum includes advanced placement, honors and regular level courses in English, mathematics, science, social studies, computer technology and foreign language. It offers various vocational career programs with additional courses in business, computer business courses, home economics, agriculture and industrial arts. It also provides a variety of arts activities that include concert, marching and symphonic band, musical productions and theatrical and visual arts. Its communications department organizes various competitive speech and debate contests and also publishes a school newspaper. Lafayette High School provides various extensive special education programs for individuals with learning disorders and mental and physical disabilities.
