History
Kidney & Hypertension Associates (KHA) is a physician group that specializes in the treatment of patients with kidney diseases, hypertension, diabetes and stone disease. KHA was formed by Dr. David Powers who started a parttime nephrology practice on the Northshore in 1998 in conjunction with LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans where he was a professor. Dr. Powers left LSU in the year 2000 to pursue a full-time private practice. Kidney & Hypertension Associates is the medical director of 5 dialysis units which are located in Hammond, Slidell, Amite, Franklinton and Lacombe and our physicians and nurse practitioners also care for patients in other dialysis units so as to provide service to all of the Northshore communities. Over the past ten years we have built 4 new dialysis centers, in Covington, Hammond, Slidell, and Franklinton Our goal is to be the premier nephrology practice on the Northshore and to continue the same compassionate care which we committed to from the start
