The Office of Family Support provides supportive services, including financial assistance, education and training to poor and low-income residents in Louisiana. It operates more than seven regional and over 70 parish offices throughout the state. The organization has several Support Enforcement Services regional and Disability Determinations Services area offices. It operates the Child Care Assistance Program to provide financial assistance to parents for child care and schooling expenses. The Office of Family Support runs the Disability Determinations Services Program to offer benefits to disabled individuals. Its Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program provides temporary cash assistance to families in need. The organization s Strategies to Empower People Program assists residents with educational, training and work related activities. It also operates the Food Stamp and Kinship Care Subsidy programs. The Office of Family Support is operated by the Louisiana Department of Social Services.
