The Governor s Office of Elderly Affairs serves as a focal point for senior citizens in Louisiana and administers a range of home- and community-based services and programs through a network of more than 35 37 area agencies on aging. The agency works to promote the maximum possible degree of personal freedom, dignity and self-determination. Its Elderly Protective Services Program acts to prevent, remedy, halt and hinder the acts of abuse and neglect against a senior citizen in the community. The Governor s Office of Elderly Affairs is responsible for providing services that include counseling, transportation, nutritional education, information and assistance with daily living activities. It is governed by state of Louisiana.
