Established in 1923, the DeQuincy News is now in its 85th year and is the second oldest business in DeQuincy. Joel R. Smith and Willa Attaway were the first publishers. Francis and Vera Masingill published the paper from 1925 to 1965, when they sold the News to Jerry and Joy Wise, who are the current publishers. Their daughter, Jeffra Wise DeViney, is the advertising manager and assistant publisher. News office is located at 203 East Harrison Street in DeQuincy. The paper has a circulation area that covers North Calcasieu and South Beauregard parishes and is published weekly on Wednesdays.
