History
Dashka Roth moved from California to New Orleans in 1978, and opened La Petite Jewellerie on Toulouse Street in 1979. Ten years later she opened Dashka Roth Contemporary Art on Magazine Street, and 1-1/2 years later made a move uptown where she continued as Dashka Roth Contemporary Jewelry. In 1994 she moved to Chartres Street where the business remains today. Dashka's background in jewelry began with private lessons from Ann Garland in Cambridge,MA, then she later worked for Olde Hampshire Silversmiths, also in Cambridge. Next, Dashka branched out, bought a few hand tools and a little silver, and began making and selling jewelry Harvard Square. The gallery was nominated in 1995 and 1996, and selected in 1997 through 2005 as one of the Top 100 Retailers of American Craft by the Buyers' Market of American Crafts and Niche Magazine .In 1999 and 2001, she was selected as one of the Top Ten Retailers of American Craft.
