Covenant House was founded in 1987 and is located in New Orleans. It is a 70-plus bed crisis center that provides shelter and services to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth, ages 16 to 21 years. The center fulfills the basic requirements of its members that include food, shelter and clothing. Additionally, it provides services, such as medical attention, individual and family counseling, substance abuse management, educational assistance, and vocational, job and living skills training. It also conducts programs to rebuild and reunite families and offers youth with the opportunity and the tools they need to build healthy, independent and productive lives. It also offers on-the-job training and work experience to youth who are unemployed and those who have no previous work experience.
