Established in 1865, the Baton Rouge Police Department is a law enforcement agency that prevents crime and promotes safety and well being of the citizens in accordance with city ordinances and state laws. It employs a staff of more than 900 sworn and communications officers, specialized police personnel and civilians. The Baton Rouge Police Department maintains administration, uniform patrol, operational services and criminal investigation bureaus. The department undertakes cases related to homicide, robbery, juvenile and sexual abuse, forgery, major assault, missing persons, cyber crime, auto theft and narcotics. Located in Baton Rouge, La., the Baton Rouge Police Department also offers services for alarm enforcement, licensing, bicycle registration and fingerprinting.
