The Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is one of the largest public agencies in the state of Kentucky. It offers a variety of criminal justice services, such as juvenile treatment and detention, adult incarceration, autopsies, death certifications, toxicology analyses, special investigations, paroling of eligible convicted criminals, and long range planning and recommendations on statewide criminal justice reform issues. The Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet also encompasses law enforcement activities and training programs for prevention, education and treatment of substance abuse. The agency maintains a criminal justice council that is comprised of attorney generals, public advocates, criminal defense lawyers, and representatives of the County Attorneys Association and the Commonwealth's Attorneys Association. The Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet employs a staff of more than 8,000 personnel and is located in Frankfort, Ky.
