Historic site of the South Union Shaker village, a community that existed from 1807-1922. The site includes a nationally recognized museum that houses exhibits about South Union's history, along with seven other supporting historic structures on 500 acres of farmland. This most southern of Shaker villages offers a unique look at the sect, a religious community that espoused equality of the sexes and races, technology, and simplicity in all things. Educational programming and events are offered and rentals are available.
