Founded in 1989, the Paris Police Department serves the community, safeguards residents lives and their properties, suppresses criminal activities and apprehends law offenders. The department is a member of the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association and Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The Paris Police Department operates an information center and citizens police academy. The department supports the Explorer Program, which provides law enforcement training to students between the ages of 14 and 21. Located in Paris, Ky., it offers various safety and driving tips.
