Established in 1972, the Lake Cumberland District Health Department provides a range of medical and preventive health care services. The department serves the residents of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties in Kentucky. It occupies more than 3,600 square miles of space. The Lake Cumberland District Health Department has a staff of over 250 people. The department has expertise in family planning, immunization and pediatric services. In addition, it offers health education, nutritional counseling, and tobacco prevention and cessation programs. The Lake Cumberland District Health Department conducts epidemiology and surveillance studies on various communicable diseases and chronic illnesses. The department also provides diabetes management and HIV education programs.
