Kentucky School for the Blind, established in 1839, offers special education to students suffering from visual impairments. It offers education to more than 500 students in grades kindergarten through 12. The school s academic curriculum includes vision orientation and mobility, functional academics, communication skills, and refinement of motor skills, and social and emotional development. It also provides recreational activities, vocational training, and physical and occupational therapies to students. The additional services offered by the school include audiological screenings, nutrition counseling, and psychology and optometry consultation.
