District Court, located in Lexington, Ky., is part of the Kentucky Court of Justice. The court hears a variety of cases, including juvenile matters, city and county ordinances, misdemeanors, traffic offenses, probate of wills, felony preliminary hearings, and civil cases involving $4,000 or less. It also hears cases, such as guardianship and conservatorship for disabled individuals and voluntary and involuntary mental commitments, and cases relating to domestic violence and abuse.
