Norstam Veneers offers veneer, plywood and engineered wood manufacturing. Once logs are delivered to the company s yard, they are sorted by species which include ash, cherry, hard maple, hickory, poplar, red oak, walnut and white oak in preparation of being sawn in the mill. Some species such as ash, red and white oak of larger size and higher than average quality are sorted to be sawn into rift and quartered lumber, which is used for special needs. Wood waste from production is processed to produce energy from steam for running its production processes. Norstam runs three shifts per day allowing the company to process logs 24 hours a day. The veneer being produced is shipped from the Mauckport, Ind., facility directly to its customers throughout the world. Norstam is an ESOP company, an employee stock ownership plan, allowing the entire work force to have a vested interest in the success of the company.
