Buckhorn Children and Family Services was founded in 1902, and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation. It is a private nonprofit agency that provides psychiatric residential treatment, residential treatment, foster care and adoption, transitional living for young adults and family preservation and reunification to children and families throughout Kentucky and Ohio. It is governed by a board of directors composed of volunteers. It is a member of the Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies, the Children's Alliance of Kentucky and the Child Welfare League of America. Buckhorn's foster care provides children with opportunities to have successful living experiences in a family setting and achieve their full potential to be productive citizens in early adulthood. Its services include 24-hour crisis stabilization, evaluation and assessment, social and life skills training services. It is located in Buckhorn, Ky.
