History
In the fall of 2010, Surekha Kulkarni, a jewelry artist from Louisville, Kentucky, was volunteering at the local refugee center. She met a group of refugee women trying to sell their necklaces, without much success. Surekha saw her dream of empowering disadvantaged women taking shape. The Beaded Treasures Project (BTP) was born! Since its inception in 2011, BTP has rapidy grown from a small group of women trying to complete a single retail project into a full-fledged female driven enterprise with true grassroots support and a limitless capacity to grow. We are expanding this model to reach more women by conducting Skills Training and Financial Literacy Workshops throughout Louisville. Your support allows us to better serve our mission and empower more women to become self- sufficient.
