The Bardstown Water Treatment Plant has been providing water to residents since 1904, serving approximately 12,000 customers across Nelson, Hardin, and Washington Counties. With a capacity of 8 million gallons per day, the plant produces an average of 3.7 million gallons per day and maintains over 350 miles of water main.
Located below the dam of Sympson Lake on Boston Road, the plant can supplement its water supply by pumping from the Beech Fork River during dry months. The Water Plant and Distribution System employ a dedicated team of 10 operators and 11 field crew members to ensure the delivery of clean and reliable water to the community.
