History
Owner Philip Chiles worked for several years selling vintage clothing to various vintage clothing stores before found WMV in 2004. Ever since then we have used an enormous number of resources, including our own customers, to introduce people to a neglected part of our history: our clothing. Most people own a lot of clothing over the course of their lives, and very little of it actually gets worn out; we seek out the most interesting pieces and reintroduce them!
Specialties
We carry a wide selection of used, vintage clothing and accessories. Unlike thrift stores, which sell donated clothing and occasionally have vintage, we specialize in older pieces, starting in the 1980s and going back. (To some of us that's not vintage, but keep in mind that in a college town, most of our customers were born in the 1990s!) We cater to all kinds of markets, from casual streetwear to costume pieces to serious collectors. High turnover is our goal, so we keep things reasonably priced; no one wants to look at the same things every time they come in. We also buy from the public, so anyone is free to bring clothes in during normal store hours. Clothing needs to be clean (no smoke, animal hair, mustiness, etc; if it's obviously been on the floor of your closet we probably won't take it.)
